A Bird Speaks of Aesop

Said the heron to her chick,
”Listen up, and I’ll tell the tale,
Of the fox who served a dish of food
Just to watch me fail.

”But my darling, don’t you fear,
Cause later on, I got’im.
You should’ve seen how embarrassingly
He tried to squeeze snout into bottle.

”So treat others how you wish to be treated.
That’s the lesson, my long-legged kid.”

And the baby heron looked up at his mom

and asked—
”Is that what you did?”
