Tomorrow
A poor man works all night and day
And notices he’s not getting equal pay
“We’ll pay you tomorrow,” the people then say
A hungry man searches for scraps in the street
And when he tells people he’s feeling weak
It’s “tomorrow we’ll get you something to eat.”
A man who “fit the description”, they claim
Asks the people when he can clear his name
“Tomorrow you’ll have a chance to explain.”
A man whose teenage brother was lost
At the hands of someone they were told they should trust
Is told “Tomorrow the system will be just”
These men go to bed at the end of the day
And dream of a tomorrow one tomorrow away
And wake up
And find
It’s still today
