The Man Who Was Always Right

He walked, head high, on every street

He looked down on each person he’d meet

Couldn’t help he stood tall

It‘s just a fact

He was never wrong. And that was that.

He never had doubt, was never on the fence

His was the only view that made sense

No questions, just answers.

It was just a fact.

He was never wrong. And that was that.

And if someone disagreed, he’d shout

His well-prepared list of “what abouts

He wasn’t deflecting

It was just a fact

He was NEVER wrong. And that was that.

And over the years, and months, and days

He was proud of how he was stuck in his ways

He never changed.

Never grew.

Never learned.

And never knew.

So the next time you feel that you’ve dug in your heels

And you can’t quite take that first step off that hill

Remember to listen before you speak

Remember to learn before you teach

Remember the man on whom it never dawned

Was once, maybe twice, maybe often- wrong.
